My Path to Sicily — and Why It Matters for You

My Path to Sicily — and Why It Matters for You

I was born half Sicilian and grew up in Poland. At 18, I moved to London alone, with zero connections 200 hundred’s pounds in cash and a great deal of determination. I started as a waitress. I worked my way into one of the city’s respected event agencies, studied formally, and eventually became a venue manager for clients who expected nothing less than perfection.

In 2016, I made the decision that changed everything: I left London and moved to Catania. The city that had always felt like the truest version of home. I founded Dazzled Events Global there, and I have been building it — quietly, carefully, with enormous pride — ever since.

I tell couples this story not to impress them, but because I think it explains something important: I understand both worlds. I know what international clients need — the reassurance, the transparency, the seamless communication across time zones. And I know what Sicily can offer — the vendors who only say yes to people they trust, the venues that are not on any booking platform, the local rhythms that take years to truly understand.

That combination is what I bring to every wedding I plan.

Why International Couples Choose Sicily

Over the years, a clear pattern has emerged: the couples most drawn to what I offer — and to what Sicily offers — are those who want more than a beautiful setting. They want to feel something. They come from across Europe, from the UK, from Australia, from the Americas and beyond. Different backgrounds, different stories — but the same desire for a wedding that is truly, deeply their own.

THEY VALUE AUTHENTICITY OVER TOURISM

My clients are not looking for a postcard. They want to feel that they have discovered something real — a place with depth and soul that most people haven’t found yet. Sicily gives them exactly that. It is a destination that rewards curiosity.

THEY CARE DEEPLY ABOUT THE FOOD

I have yet to meet a guest who was not completely undone by Sicilian cuisine. The arancini passed at cocktail hour. The fresh swordfish and slow-roasted lamb at the reception. The cassata at the end of the night. Food is culture here, and my clients feel that immediately — wherever in the world they come from.

THEY WANT AN EXPERIENCE, NOT JUST A DAY

The couples I work with typically turn their wedding into a multi-day journey for their guests — private boat excursions, cooking classes, wine tastings on Etna, sunset aperitivo in Taormina. I design all of this alongside the wedding itself. The ceremony is the crescendo, not the whole story.

THEY TRUST INTERNATIONAL EXPERTISE

My years in London — starting from zero, working my way up to venue manager for high-profile clients — gave me a fluency in what international couples expect: clear communication, transparent timelines, impeccable organisation. I bring all of that to Sicily, combined with the local knowledge that only comes from actually living here.

What working with me actually looks like

I take on a limited number of weddings each year — intentionally. I am not running a volume business. Every couple I work with gets my full attention, from the first conversation to the final dance. I answer messages personally. I handle the difficult vendor negotiations myself. I am on site on your wedding day, not sending a coordinator in my place.

You hired me. You get me.

How I Plan Your Wedding, Step by Step

The most common fear I hear from couples considering a destination wedding abroad is this: will someone truly understand what we want? My entire process is designed to answer that question — with a yes — from the very first conversation.

STEP 01 — DISCOVERY CALL

We talk — really talk. I want to understand not just your vision, but who you are as a couple. What moves you, what makes you laugh, what matters most on the day. I listen before I suggest anything.

STEP 02 — VENUE CURATION

I present a personally selected shortlist of venues matched to your aesthetic and practical needs. If you come to Sicily for a site visit — which I strongly encourage — I accompany you and give you an honest, insider perspective on each one.

STEP 03 — VENDOR INTRODUCTION

I introduce you to photographers, florists, musicians, and caterers I have worked with for years and trust completely. These are not cold referrals — these are relationships built on shared standards.

STEP 04 — GUEST JOURNEY DESIGN

Beyond your wedding day, I design the full experience for your guests — excursions, transfers, accommodation recommendations, welcome dinners, farewell brunches. I want everyone who travels for you to leave in love with Sicily.

STEP 05 — YOUR WEDDING DAY

I am there, on site, handling everything with invisible precision. My job on the day is to make sure you feel nothing but joy — and that every detail unfolds exactly as we planned, or better.

Questions I Get Asked Most Often

Is a wedding in Sicily legally recognised internationally?

Yes — Italian civil ceremonies are fully legally binding and internationally recognised. I guide every couple through the specific documentation required, which varies depending on your country of residence and citizenship. It is more straightforward than most people expect.

How far in advance should we start planning?

Ideally 18 to 24 months before your date — particularly for May, June, September, and October, which fill up quickly at the best venues. That said, I occasionally have availability for shorter timelines, so it is always worth reaching out even if your timeline is tighter than you’d like.

What is the best time of year to get married in Sicily?

My personal favourites are late May, June, and September — warm, golden, and slightly less intense than the peak summer heat. July and August are spectacular too, and some couples love the full drama of a Sicilian summer. I’ll give you an honest recommendation based on what matters most to you.

Do you work with small weddings?

Absolutely — and some of the most beautiful weddings I have planned have been intimate gatherings of 20 to 40 people. When the group is small, every detail shines with particular intensity. I love them.

How do you handle communication for guests who don’t speak Italian?

I manage everything in English — all vendor communication, all guest logistics, all day-of coordination. My clients and their guests never have to navigate a language barrier. That is part of what I am here for.

This Is What I Believe About Weddings

I have planned events at the highest level in two countries. I have worked for clients who could have chosen anywhere in the world for their most important day. And what I have come to believe — genuinely, from the inside — is this: luxury is not about beautiful settings. It is about how you feel in them.

The most extraordinary wedding I can imagine is not the one with the biggest budget or the most impressive venue. It is the one where the couple feels completely seen and completely held — where everything has been thought of, every risk absorbed, every detail elevated — so that they can be entirely present for the most important moment of their lives.

That is what I build. Every time. For every couple who trusts me with their day.

“Live your Italian dream. I’ll plan every detail — with precision, with soul, and with everything I have.”

If you are beginning to imagine your Sicilian wedding — or even if you are simply curious what it might feel like — I would love to hear from you. The first conversation is just that: a conversation. No pressure, no packages. Just two people talking about something beautiful.
